What types of elephants are at the sanctuary?
At Joy Elephant Sanctuary, like many others in Thailand, the focus is predominantly on domesticated Asian elephants. These elephants have often been part of the logging industry or used for entertainment and tourism before being rescued.
Sanctuaries provide these elephants with a secure environment where they can recover and live out their lives more naturally, with respect for their well-being and without the pressures of labor or performance.
